I.U.P.A./SPOA Local 6045 is comprised of sworn law enforcement professionals dedicated to protect and serve the City of Sarasota residents and its visitors year round. Our commitment and loyalty to our community is unwavering. We are dedicated to continually providing the highest level of service with integrity and partnering with our community to maintain and enhance our quality of life. I.U.P.A. Local 6045 is proud to be a part of an agency that continually focuses on community policing and is fully accredited by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation.

Sarasota Police Officers Association

I.U.P.A./SPOA Local 6045 members serve the City of Sarasota, Florida which is located just south of Tampa, FL on the beautiful gulf coast (population 56,000). The city was founded in 1902 and was once the winter home of the Ringling Bros and Barnum Bailey Circus. Our city, over the years, has turned into a cultural arts mecca featuring art, opera, theatre, and fine cuisine which has made it world renowned. The community also believes in education and the Ringling School of Art and Design is one of the most sought after institutions by students all over the world. The school has some of the finest students sought after by the Film and Animation industries to include Hollywood and Disney.

City of Sarasota

Sarasota is also home to the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium, a non-profit, independent marine research facility that is essential to marine biology and the delicate ecosystems all over the state of Florida. We are especially proud of the many sea turtles that also choose Sarasota beaches as a home every year to build their nests and release their hatchlings. It is a great event for all.

Sarasota is also home to the Baltimore Orioles Spring Training Facility at Ed Smith Stadium. Our love for baseball runs deep and as one of America’s greatest pastimes we are honored to have them in our city. Our city is also the headquarters for the International Union of Police. Associations.

I.U.P.A./SPOA Local 6045 is committed to represent the membership of sworn law enforcement officers of the Sarasota Police Department. These officers serve the City of Sarasota and work 12 hour shifts/ 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week. SPOA Local 6045 is partnered with the International Union of Police Associations in order to provide 24 hours representation and legal protection in accordance with various needs presented by our membership.
